Trying to establish new concepts of electronics based on π-electrons in soft material

Our group is trying to establish new concepts of electronics based on π-electrons in soft materials such as organic molecules. Because of the low-dimensionality of π-electrons, the electric properties of these materials can be quite different from those of conventional Si devices. For example, the Coulomb interaction among electrons is enhanced to result in many unusual behaviors such as superconductivity. These phenomena can be controlled by using FET device structures and/or supramolecular architectures. Our research aims at paving the way to new nano-scale devices or quantum computers.
